Benjamin Wiens

Master of Social Work Student | Wichita State University

Connection must be present for healing and growth to happen. I take an empathetic and non-judgmental approach to connect with clients to help them in their journey to wholeness. I seek to provide a safe space for you to gain clarity and work through challenges to build a life of fulfillment and purpose. I consider the whole person in approaching therapy, taking into account the body, brain development, family, and culture, as well as social and environmental factors. I’m still developing my therapeutic skill set and am incorporating mindfulness practice, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Acceptance and commitment therapy helps clients understand and accept feelings instead of avoiding or denying them.

I’ve worked in the social service field for ten years, six of them as a community case manager at a mental health center. There, I led 1-on-1 and group sessions with kids and teens, working on social skills, anger management, and anxiety management. More recently I’ve worked at a group home with teen boys in the foster care system to address trauma, problem behaviors, and develop skills that strengthen resilience and build social supports. I’m currently in my final year of Wichita State University’s Masters of Social Work Program and am training to become a therapist.

Benjamin will provide therapy through the 2025-2026 school year and graduate in May 2026.
